Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia's tourism centrepiece and home to rich Celtic, Mi'kmaq, and Acadian culture, is home to Cape Breton University (CBU). CBU has a reputation for small class sizes, strong community involvement, and strong internal support for faculty research. The Shannon School of Business at CBU delivers several degree programs, including the MBA in Community Economic Development (CED). The School invites applications for a tenure-track position in Management at the rank of Assistant Professor to commence July 2010, subject to budget approval.
The School is seeking a senior scholar with a record of teaching, research and experience in the area of management. The successful candidate will collaborate with faculty from other disciplines within the School and in particular with tourism management, teach in various degree programs, conduct research with theoretical/practical significance, and create opportunities for interaction with the business community and with scholars at other universities. Candidates should have a PhD or DBA in business or a related field; a proven record of working effectively with colleagues and students; an active program of research; expertise in tourism management, international business, and strategic management. Applicants are expected to demonstrate potential and commitment with regard to teaching, research/creative/scholarly activities and service to Cape Breton University, community and profession. The union affiliation of this position is with the Cape Breton University Faculty Association.
