Echo Chair in Rural Women's Health Research.
The Faculty of Health Sciences and the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry at The University of Western Ontario invite applications for the position of Echo Chair in Rural Women's Health Research.
The Chair was established with the generous support of the Ontario Women's Health Council, now Echo: Improving Women's Health in Ontario, and with the generous support of Arthur and Sonia Labatt to provide leadership in research on rural women's health, promoting equity and improved health for the women of Ontario by working in collaborative partnerships with the health system, the community, research and policy stakeholders. In addition to Western's role as a major academic health science centre, with established links to rural and regional centres, the University houses the Department of Women's Studies and Feminist Research and the Centre for Research and Education on Violence against Women and Children. It is also expected that the Chair will liaise with Echo endowed chairs in Women's Health Research at other universities and engage with Echo in activities to advance women's health in Ontario.
The Echo Chair in Rural Women's Health Research will have an established track record in women's health or health services research, knowledge of rural health and health care, and an advanced understanding of gender issues in health and health care. The successful candidate will also have experience in the development of curricula, as well as demonstrated success in building and maintaining community partnerships.
During this round, the Echo Chair in Rural Women's Health Research will be appointed at the rank of Associate/Professor with tenure in the Arthur Labatt Family School of Nursing, in the Faculty of Health Sciences, with a cross appointment in the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, with a start date of July 1, 2010.
