The Ontario Veterinary College Health Sciences Centre (OVC-HSC) is seeking applications to fill a 3-year contractually limited position as a Radiation Oncology Veterinarian for companion and large animals. There may be an opportunity for reappointment depending on available funding and based on a mutual benefit for the OVC-HSC and the incumbent.

Building on a reputation of delivering leading-edge services to both veterinarians and animal owners alike, the OVC continues to reinvest in our programs, infrastructure and people to advance cancer therapy and investigations.

As the radiation oncologist at the OVC-HSC, you will work with a dedicated staff in the planning and treatment of our patients. You will also have the opportunity to shape the future of the radiation oncology service, which includes assisting in the choice of a state-of-the-art linear accelerator for the new Animal Cancer Centre at the OVC-HSC.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in clinical radiation oncology and outstanding communication skills. The Animal Cancer Centre is supported by board certified medical oncologists, a surgical oncologist and radiology specialists. With your help, we will realize our goal to significantly increase the number of patients treated using radiation therapy in the new Animal Cancer Centre. This full-time service appointment will include incidental clinical instruction in radiation oncology to residents and graduate students. Shared on call duties are required with limited administrative activities.

The veterinary hospital at the OVC offers state of the art diagnostic equipment including, but not limited to, a 1.5 Tesla high field General Electric MRI, CT, digital radiography, PACS system, radiation unit, state of the art ultrasonography, scintigraphy, videoendoscopy, and pulmonary ventilator support, 24/7 fully staffed intensive care, all of which is supported by faculty and staff committed to deliver the very best of patient care.

Requirements include a DVM or equivalent degree, licensed or eligible for licensure to practice in the Province of Ontario, and a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Radiology (ACVR) with a specialty in Radiation Oncology. Applications will also be considered from candidates who are eligible for the certification examination of the ACVR, Radiation Oncology.
