The Faculty of Health Sciences at McMaster University seeks applications from scholars of international reputation for the position of Associate Dean, School of Rehabilitation Science.

The School of Rehabilitation Science is a national and international leader in innovative education, research and service activities. The School offers professional graduate programs for students in occupational therapy, physiotherapy and post-professional and research programs in rehabilitation science.

The Associate Dean will be a key member of the McMaster interprofessional team and will direct and lead the research and education mission of the department. S/he is required to have a track record of academic excellence and research prowess and holds a professional designation in either occupational therapy or physiotherapy. Salary and academic rank will be commensurate with experience.

Reporting to the Dean and Vice-President, Faculty of Health Sciences, the Associate Dean is accountable for the administration of the School including the application of faculty and university policies to the department, curriculum, appointments, and nominations to committees. The Associate Dean will be a member of the Executive Committee of the Council of the Faculty of Health Sciences, and will contribute to discussions of faculty-wide issues.

The School is part of the Faculty of Health Sciences at McMaster University. The Faculty is unique in Canada in educating physicians, nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, physician assistants and midwives to work together as part of effective health care teams. Members of the Faculty currently hold more than $100 million in research funding, making McMaster University one of the top three universities in the country for research intensivity and sixth overall in national research rankings. McMaster University has achieved international recognition for its educational innovations including problem based learning and is ranked as one of only four Canadian universities in the Top 100 in the world.

McMaster University is located in Hamilton, Ontario, on a 300-acre property that is sheltered by the Niagara Escarpment and bordered by conservation land and the Royal Botanical Gardens. Situated at the head of Lake Ontario, Hamilton is the fourth largest city in the province, and the region is one of the fastest growing in Canada. It is within an hour's drive of Toronto and is the same distance to the U.S. border (Buffalo, New York).
