The Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry at the University of Alberta, located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada is one of Canada's premier health-education institutions. It has been internationally recognized as among the world's top 50 medical schools and is currently inviting applications for a full time academic position as Henri M. Toupin Chair in Neurology. The University of Alberta and the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry are committed to fostering education and research and as such, the Division of Neurology is seeking an individual with strong collaborative skills to help bridge the gap between basic and clinical science and in effect, significantly enhance Neurosciences in northern Alberta.
The purpose of the Henri M. Toupin Chair in Neurology is to attract an accomplished researcher committed to advance research, show leadership, facilitate collaboration and develop programs in translational neurology. The Chair shall have an M.D. and/or Ph.D., and an established track record in movement disorders, cognitive disorders, neurogenetics or other academic subspecialty areas of neurology in order to facilitate the development of an internationally recognized research program. Funding for this position will be established with funds from the Henri M. Toupin Medical Foundation. The term will be for a five-year period with the option for reappointment for an additional five-year term. The incumbent will hold a full-time faculty appointment in the Division of Neurology at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor. The Chair will acknowledge that she or he holds the Henri M. Toupin Chair in Neurology in all publications, lectures, and any other activities supported by the endowment. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of personal academic accomplishment, research publications, and excellent interpersonal skills, as well as innovative ideas on how to consolidate clinical and research activities.
