The Faculty of Education at the University of New Brunswick invites applications for a two-year term position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the area of Educational Counselling. Applicants must have a Doctoral degree in Educational Counselling, Counselling Psychology or a related field; a record of, or potential for scholarly contribution; and be eligible for licensure as a psychologist in the province of New Brunswick. Applicants must have expertise in one or more of the following areas of knowledge: individual and group counselling processes, counselling in school settings, career counselling, behavioral and emotional disorders, psychological assessment, and issues of professional practice and ethics in a Canadian context. Training and experience in supervision of master's-level counsellor trainees is an asset.
The ideal candidate will have an understanding of theory to practice in Educational Counselling and will be able to use this understanding to work within an established, active research group. Responsibilities will include teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, student supervision at the Master's and Doctoral levels, pursuit of a program of research and scholarship, providing leadership in the discipline, and actively strengthening linkages with the professional community. The appointment, effective July 1, 2010, will be at the Assistant Professor level.
