POSITION REQUIREMENTS
The University of Calgary - Qatar invites applications for the position of Director, Student and Enrolment Services. This is a 2 or 3 year appointment with an option to renew by mutual agreement. The successful candidate must relocate to Qatar no later than June 2010.
The Director, Student and Enrolment Services leads the enrolment management, planning and operational aspects associated with student recruitment, admissions, registration, records, scheduling, scholarships, convocation, academic advising, student experience and student counselling. The successful incumbent will be a key member of the student success team and responsible for coordinating and delivering a range of academic support services in order to promote and encourage student success.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Leading the strategic planning and implementation of student activities at the Qatar campus;
- Planning and implementing programs and services that assist students to re-enter, continue or complete their academic programs and assist prospective students to enter UCQ academic programs;
- Designing and managing local processes and activities maintaining consistency with U of C policies but sensitive to the local environment;
- Provision of assistance and advice to the Associate Dean (Academic) and the Dean regarding the development of student-related and learning-related policies for the Qatar campus;
- Hearing and determination of appeals from students regarding matters related to admission, registration, fee assessment, and withdrawal;
- Advice to student and staff on formal student appeal procedures and penalties associated with academic and non-academic misconduct;
- Promotion of a positive student campus experience which fosters leadership, academic integrity and student success.
Qualifications/Expertise Required:
- A masters degree with at least 10 years experience in a senior student administrative position at a post-secondary institution;
- Ability to work productively in a framework of operations that fully respects the laws, culture and religion of Qatar;
- Ability to work in a rapidly changing work environment;
- Experience in budget forecasting and development;
- Previous experience in the administration of student and learning support programs;
- Previous experience in an international setting is desirable.
Employment is contingent on the successful completion of the State of Qatar visa and residency process.
