Muriel and Ada Hole Chair in Pediatric Oncology

The Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry is inviting applications for the Muriel and Ada Hole Chair in Pediatric Oncology. Located in Edmonton, Alberta, the Faculty has been internationally recognized as among the world's top 50 medical schools, and as one of Canada's premier health-education institutions. The University is currently home to 36,000 students with more than 11,000 faculty and staff. Founded over a century ago, the University has an annual budget in excess of $1 billion and attracts more than $400 million in external research funding.

The Chair was established as an endowment fund to support pediatric oncology research activities undertaken at the University of Alberta. The Chair will be expected to develop and maintain a world-class research program oriented towards prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of pediatric oncology.

The University of Alberta is committed to fostering education and research and as such, the Faculty is seeking a research leader at the Associate Professor level or higher to promote collaboration; establish effective links and attract outstanding students, research associations and faculty members to the University. The successful candidate will have a medical and/or a PhD degree and be an accomplished investigator with proven leadership in the field of pediatric oncology research.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with their division in the Department of Pediatrics and the Stollery Children's Hospital, one of the finest pediatric care facilities in North America. The Stollery Children's Hospital in conjunction with the Women and Children's Research Health Institute (WCHRI), provides comprehensive care to children across western Canada and research funding support for our scientists. The Department of Pediatrics is home to more than 130 pediatricians across 20 clinical specializations and alongside community colleagues and dedicated health professionals providing care for children from Northern Alberta and beyond.
