WILFRID LAURIER UNIVERSITY, Faculty of Music, is seeking a cellist whose principal duty will be a member of the Penderecki String Quartet, the University's Quartet-in-Residence. Given the person's role as a member of the ensemble, compatibility in performance style and a willingness to undertake the rehearsal, performance, travel, and recording schedule of the group are essential. (The Penderecki String Quartet performs up to 75 concerts per season locally, nationally, and internationally.) The successful candidate will also be eligible for a one year appointment as an Artist-in-Residence (may be renewable subject to budgetary approval), whose duties, in addition to membership in the quartet, include teaching chamber music, individual lessons and masterclasses. Undergraduate teaching experience, professional quartet experience, and an international stature as a performer are required, with a graduate degree strongly desirable. Starting date: July 1, 2010.
