Curriculum/Faculty Development Specialist
Full Time (35 hours per week)

Since its inception 50 years ago, The Michener Institute for Applied Health Sciences (Michener) has responded to the human health resource needs in Canada by providing innovative health care education in a variety of health science programs, including Respiratory Therapy, Medical Laboratory Science, Ultrasound, Chiropody, Nuclear Medicine, Radiation Therapy and Radiological Technology. Michener offers programs and services to approximately 1,000 full time and 5,000 part-time continuing education students.

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Director, Centre for Learning and Innovation, the Curriculum/Faculty Developer will be responsible for providing faculty support for curriculum development, evaluation and innovation; provision of consulting services on the use of pedagogy and technology to support the scholarship of teaching and learning; design of workshops, seminars and other forms of professional development to promote effective teaching and learning in the applied health sciences.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support Faculty in the design of courses across a variety of health science programs.
- Organize and facilitate Faculty orientation and professional development activities.
- Provide forums for Faculty dialogue on current, relevant topics to support student learning, such as diversity in learning, academic standards, etc.
- Engage in evidence based curriculum design.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 5 years experience designing and evaluating curricula in the applied health sciences.
- Minimum 5 years experience providing professional development and continuing education.
- Teaching experience.
- Knowledge of performance and competency based curriculum design.
- Experienced with online learning and simulation.
- Demonstrates innovative uses of educational technology.
- Relevant post secondary degree - Masters in Education or equivalent.
- Commitment to learner-centered education.
- Experience using quantitative and qualitative evaluation methods.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Extensive knowledge of learning and development processes.
- Must be able to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people, develop relationships and manage expectations.
- Advanced organizational skills and ability.
