The Faculty of Health and Social Development at the University of British Columbia Okanagan invites applications for the position of Director, School of Nursing, as well as one tenure-track appointment (Nursing) at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin as early as July 1, 2010.

At UBC Okanagan we are building a unique, research-intensive university with an intimate learning environment in one of Canada's most scenic regions. Situated in the Faculty of Health and Social Development-along with Social Work and Human Kinetics/Health Studies-the School of Nursing is playing a key role in creating a culture of excellence, innovation, and inter-professional collaboration. The School of Nursing offers a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Science in Nursing. As well, faculty supervise PhD students in Interdisciplinary Studies.

Director, School of Nursing

We are seeking a senior candidate (at the rank of Associate or Full Professor) to bring pro-active and visionary leadership to guide strategic planning of this program; support and contribute to a strong research program within a positive and supportive environment for Faculty, staff and students; and promote excellence and integrity in teaching, research, and scholarly activity. This candidate will foster an environment where all can flourish. The successful applicant will hold a PhD (or equivalent) and will have demonstrated excellence in leadership, administration, research and teaching. Eligibility for registration with the College of Registered Nursing of British Columbia is required.

Assistant Professor (tenure-track, Nursing)

The successful applicant will hold a PhD (or equivalent) and will have demonstrated excellence in research and teaching. Eligibility for registration with the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia is required. We invite applications from candidates with an area of practice expertise or specialization in a variety of areas of nursing and who are able to establish and pursue a program of research relevant to the discipline. Expertise in Inter-Professional Education would be of particular interest.

- Statement of leadership and administrative experience, strengths, challenges, and potential
- Statement of leadership philosophy
- Statement regarding program of research

Assistant Professor (tenure-track, Nursing)
- Proposed program of research
- Statement of undergraduate and graduate teaching areas or courses in which you could participate
- Statement of teaching philosophy and specific strengths


3. Names of three (3) referees who are able to provide objective evaluations and comments on your teaching and research ability and background and on your potential for high quality research in the future.
