The new Lassonde School of Engineering builds on York University's existing fully accredited and innovative programs in Computer Engineering, Geomatics Engineering and Space Engineering, as well as new programs in Software Engineering and Electrical Engineering ( The expansion is well under way for programs in Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering, and will soon include Chemical Engineering.

Lassonde School of Engineering

Civil Engineering (1 position)
We seek an outstanding candidate at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in Civil Engineering. Candidates from a wide range of specialties are encouraged to apply, including, but not limited to: infrastructure lifecycle assessment, costing and rehabilitation; designing for climate-change-driven extreme loading events; sustainable development.

Electrical Engineering (2 positions)
We seek two outstanding candidates at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in Electrical Engineering, with an emphasis on power engineering and/or energy systems, including, but not limited to: high-power electronics, power systems, energy storage/generation/transmission, smart grid, renewable energy sources.

Mechanical Engineering (2 positions)
We seek two outstanding candidates at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in Mechanical Engineering. Applications from individuals in the traditional areas of mechanical engineering such as thermofluids and solid mechanics are welcomed, but special attention will be given to individuals with research experience in the area of micro-systems (e.g., micro-fluidics, MEMS, and micro-sensors), advanced manufacturing and materials (e.g., additive manufacturing, multifunctional materials, etc.), and sustainable energy systems and bio-systems (e.g., mechanics of bio-systems and medical devices).

Candidates for the above positions must hold earned undergraduate and PhD degrees in the relevant Engineering field, or a closely related discipline. Successful candidates will have a demonstrated track record of technical, academic (teaching and scholarly research) and professional achievement appropriate to the level of their appointment. All successful candidates must be eligible for prompt appointment to the Faculty of Graduate Studies. All successful candidates shall demonstrate commitment to the engineering profession by being licensed as a Professional Engineer in Ontario, or by becoming licensed soon after appointment.
