Education should be flexible and accessible, so Seneca also employs various methods of teaching - from in-class lectures and online learning to co-op and field placements - in programs related to applied arts, business, financial services, and technology.

The proposed partnership builds on ten+ years of college-university collaboration between the two institutions. Both Seneca and York have established reputations as provincial leaders in advancing student mobility, transfer credit, collaborative/joint programming and accessible education. The YSP encompasses the inter-institutional coordination of numerous existing and emergent collaborations, transfer pathways and joint programs (e.g. YSIMSTE, Rehabilitation Services Certificate Program, Digital Media) and the creation of an innovative model to support inter-institutional partnership, high quality student experience and teaching and learning excellence.

The Partnership Manager will report to the Vice- Provost Academic of York University with a communications reporting line to the Associate Vice- President Academic Partnerships at Seneca College and is accountable to the York Seneca Partnership Steering Committee, co-chaired by the Vice President Academic of Seneca College and the Provost/Vice President Academic of York University.

In this exciting opportunity the Partnership Manager is responsible for:

  • Providing senior management leadership and facilitating progress towards the creation of an innovative and sustainable York Seneca Partnership.
  • Developing and managing the implementation of a comprehensive partnership framework and preliminary operational plan, in consultation with a new York Seneca Partnership Working Group, a senior-level working group comprised of relevant deans and/or their delegates from both post-secondary institutions.
  • Advancing and operationalizing the mandate of the new York Seneca Partnership and will be expected to spend time at both York and Seneca in liaising with relevant academic and administrative units.
  • Ensuring the provision of an administrative structural framework for ongoing communication, collaboration and reporting that ensures achievement of key programmatic and partnership milestones.
  • Providing senior management leadership and facilitating progress towards the creation of an innovative and sustainable York Seneca Partnership.
  • Exploring options for college-university partnership models and developing a comprehensive business plan for the creation of a bilaterally governed York Seneca Partnership.
  • Liaising with relevant academic and administrative units to support established collaborations and broker new and emergent York/Seneca collaborations.
  • Working collaboratively with faculty/program units to establish, monitor, ensure success and evaluate partnership activities including, but not limited to, teaching and learning, knowledge dissemination/creation and community engagement.
  • Conducting relevant research, monitoring trends and serving as a resource on matters pertaining to college-university partnership, transfer credit/pathways, collaborative academic programs, student mobility, etc.
  • Managing positive external relationships with MTCU (and other relevant government Ministries), COU, CAATs, Colleges Ontario, HEQCO, Quality Council, ONCAT, etc.
  • Leveraging government, private sector and philanthropic awareness of and support for the YSP.
  • Building strong, mutually-beneficial relationships between both institutions and among internal stakeholders.
  • Providing managerial coordination of the York Seneca Partnership Working Group and preparing reports/documents as needed.

Masters Degree required.

A minimum of 5 -7 years of relevant experience in post-secondary education.
Experience working at a management or team leadership level.

Knowledge of governance and administrative structures of colleges and universities.
Strong operations and project management skills.
Proven ability to embrace a vision and implement a strategic direction.
Familiarity with student services, curriculum development and teaching and learning.
Entrepreneurial skills, problem-solving ability and capacity to work in complex environments.
Ability to work independently while maintaining ongoing accountability for achieving deliverables and maintaining positive collegial relationships.
Understanding of government policy directions related to post-secondary education.
