The Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education at the University of the Fraser Valley invites applications for a full-time faculty member to commence August 1, 2013.

Located in the heart of the Fraser Valley, the University of the Fraser Valley, with over 16,000 students pursuing more than 100 programs, including two master's degrees, 15 bachelor's degrees, majors, minors and extended minors in more than 30 subject areas, and more than a dozen trades and technology programs, is committed to teaching excellence. UFV is a multi-campus institution and is regularly at the top of national rankings in the areas of teaching excellence, faculty-student interaction, and class size. UFV is also committed to indigenization of the institution.

The Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education is seeking applicants in the area of Pedagogy. Teaching will be required in two or more of the following areas: educational dance, education gymnastics, adaptive physical education, secondary curriculum and pedagogy, teaching methods, health promotion, and sociocultural aspects of human movement. The candidate must also display evidence of research or scholarship. Hiring decisions will be based on teaching ability, research contributions and fit with departmental needs.

Applicants should have an outstanding ability to teach and communicate with undergraduate students, have strong research interests in Physical Education and Pedagogy relevant to the Fraser Valley and a strong desire to build a culture of inquiry and outreach around these issues.

PhD (or close to completion); demonstrated excellence, or a commitment to establishing a record of excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level, and evidence of potential for excellence in interdisciplinary research.
