St. Francis Xavier University, one of Canada's leading primarily undergraduate universities, is seeking an Academic Vice-President and Provost, with appointment expected July 1, 2013.

St. Francis Xavier University offers an intimate learning environment and a curriculum that encompasses Faculties of Arts, Science, Education, Business, a School of Nursing, and the Coady International Institute. Our historic residential campus is home to 4,200 students from across Canada and around the world, and 250 full-time faculty dedicated to providing our students with a post-secondary education conducive to intellectual and personal growth.

Following a large-scale renewal of campus facilities, the University is now poised for a similar renewal in the academic domain, led by the new Academic Vice-President and Provost. (S)he will be a key strategic contributor to institutional enhancement, furthering academic distinction, supporting and providing vision for the continuing evolution of the University's strategic goals, and the development of innovative academic programs.

As a key member of the senior administrative committee of the University, the Academic Vice-President and Provost champions excellence and innovation in teaching, scholarship, and service to the community. Working closely with the President, the Associate Vice-President Research, the Deans, and the Senate in planning and in determining academic priorities, the Academic Vice-President and Provost will actively support quality research, innovative academic programs, a strong commitment to students, and the recruitment and retention of faculty.

The successful candidate will have an outstanding record of academic leadership and accomplishment in academic teaching and research, as well as an ability to work effectively and imaginatively in a collegial environment. The successful candidate will bring a collaborative approach with a proven capacity to build relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders.
