With roots that date back to 1936 when Nanaimo's first vocational training school opened its doors, VIU shares a rich history and connection with its communities.
Cowichan Campus is an integral part of Vancouver Island University and is going through a period of expansion in service to Southern Vancouver Island and the Cowichan Valley. The University is seeking an inspirational academic leader who will work with stakeholders to develop and enhance the strategic direction for the campus. The successful candidate will work closely and collaboratively with the local community and academic leaders in Cowichan and Nanaimo to determine the offering of programs, degrees and training initiatives that meet the needs of this growing region. The position reports to the Provost and Vice-President Academic.
The ideal candidate will also possess the following skills and qualifications:
- A PhD from an appropriately accredited institution;
- Proven academic administrative leadership at a senior level;
- A skilled and experienced instructor / teacher;
- Proven leadership in engaging Aboriginal communities in developing and implementing experiential education for Aboriginal peoples.
