The Faculty of Education, Simon Fraser University, seeks applicants for a limited-term Clinical Professor in Field Programs to provide full-time pedagogical coordination, teaching, and research within its two-year off-campus Graduate Diploma in Advanced Professional Studies in Education (GDE). This position at the Assistant Professor level provides an essential program area interface between school communities, Faculty and staff within the Faculty of Education in our in-service area of professional development. Applicants must have a strong clinical background interfacing theory with practice within K-12 classroom settings and in the application and research of practitioner-based research methods designed to improve the instructional practice of in-service teachers and teacher educators.

The Faculty has an outstanding record in research grants and publications, and in the design and delivery of innovative responsive programs to practicing teachers throughout the province. Preference will be given to candidates who have demonstrated collaborative leadership in inquiry-oriented professional development and research methods and who have current experience and knowledge of British Columbia school districts and educational communities, including a thorough knowledge of and experience with the BC curriculum. Selection criteria will also include exemplary communication abilities (across and within learning communities); supervisory and interpersonal skills; experience developing and managing budgets; program development and pedagogical coordination; and demonstrated sensitivity to diversity within educational communities.

This position reports to the Director of Field Programs and carries requirements for cohort supervision of Master's students. Preferred candidates will have a doctoral degree (PhD or EdD) and experience working in a BC school district. The position is based at the SFU Burnaby campus, but will require intermittent travel throughout the lower mainland and to locations throughout BC and sometimes beyond. The appointment begins May 2013 depending on qualifications and experience for an initial one-year term.
