The Department Human Anatomy and Cell Science, Faculty of Medicine, University of Manitoba, invites applications for a full-time tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor commencing July 1, 2013 or soon thereafter. Position Number: 15836

This advertisement is directed to outstanding candidates with post-doctoral training and published research in cell biology or related research including but not limited to cancer research and/or tissue remodeling/regeneration. This includes research on cellular mechanisms of cancer metastasis such as stem cell related metastasis and angiogenesis and/or therapeutic stem cell targeting approaches, ideally in a cancer and/or neuroscience context. Successful candidates must have a Ph.D. and/or an M.D. degree or equivalent, and will have established or demonstrated the potential to develop a competitive vibrant and externally funded research program to complement existing research programs in cancer research, neurosciences and regenerative medicine. Opportunities exist for collaborations with clinical and basic science departments in the Health Sciences.

The Department of Human Anatomy and Cell Science teaches all facets of Anatomy to a broad spectrum of undergraduate and graduate learners in the Faculties of Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmacy. We seek a candidate with effective communication skills who has demonstrated competence in teaching human histology at the undergraduate and graduate student level. Evidence of successful undergraduate or postgraduate teaching in large group and/or small group settings will be an asset. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to the advancement of new histology teaching tools.
