The appointment for this regular, full-time position in the Earth Sciences department will be made effective August 1, 2013.
Teach within the Earth Sciences Department and engage students in research projects. Course taught may include the following courses:
100-level: Introductory Physical Geology
200-level: Sedimentology and Stratigraphy, Geological Field Methods
300/400-level: Hydrogeology, Geochemistry, Quaternary Geology, Climate Change, Environmental Geology
Candidates must demonstrate commitment to teaching, learning and student success through scholarship and institutional service. Successful candidates will participate in a wide range of activities outside the classroom, including student support; institutional, faculty and departmental committee meetings and other initiatives; and professional activities in keeping with their disciplines in and outside the institution.
Master of Science in a related field from an appropriately accredited institution. Ability to take students into the field. Demonstrable knowledge and/or experience in a range of Earth Sciences fields, particularly in areas related to Environmental Geoscience.
Must possess a valid Class 4 BC Driver's License and have a confirmed satisfactory driving record (as specified in Vancouver Island University policy and procedures).
PhD in a related field.
