Medicine Hat College's Division of Arts invites applications for a Psychology Instructor in the department of Humanities and Social Sciences.
Commencing July 1, 2013, this is a full time position, and subject to successful completion of a two year probationary term, will be a continuous appointment within the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences. This department, a multidisciplinary one whose members represent the main liberal arts subject areas, has traditionally served the college's large University Transfer student population and is increasingly serving the growing number of students taking advantage of new degree completion opportunities on campus.
The teaching load accompanying this position, which will be matched as much as possible to the successful candidate's background and experience, will consist of University Transfer courses at both the junior and senior levels, spanning the range of topics in the psychology discipline, and potentially including service courses to college certificate, diploma and degree programs.
Minimum qualifications for this position include a completed Masters degree in Psychology; Ph.D. is preferred. Applicants with a commitment to teaching excellence and a background in developmental psychology and educational psychology are strongly encouraged to apply. Teaching experience at the post-secondary level would be a definite asset. A commitment to collegiality and the further development of Psychology offerings at the college is also important.
