The Department of Electrical, Computer and Software Engineering invites applications from qualified individuals for a tenure-track position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in Software Engineering, with expertise in Real-Time and Embedded Software Systems, effective July 1, 2013, or as soon as possible thereafter. Applicants should possess a PhD in Software Engineering, or a related field, a strong academic background and potential for teaching excellence, a record of excellence in research, and be registered, or eligible for and committed to registration, as a Professional Engineer (PEng) in the Province of Ontario. In addition, candidates should possess excellent communication skills and be committed to team-building and working collegially with faculty, staff, students, and the community at large.
The successful candidate will be expected to pursue quality research, establish well-funded external research program, and achieve excellence in teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels to enhance the Software Engineering program. S/he should possess vision and commitment to inspire continued advancement of the Department's educational and research programs. This position is subject to budgetary approval.
The Department of Electrical, Computer and Software Engineering offers honours undergraduate degrees in Electrical Engineering, and Software Engineering. Also offered are degrees in Engineering and Management for each of these programs. The Department also offers Master's (MASc and MEng) and PhD programs in Electrical Engineering (with various specializations), and a graduate program (MEng) in Engineering Management. In keeping with a technology-enhanced learning environment utilizing laptop computers and wireless connectivity, UOIT seeks faculty members who will utilize a technology-enhanced learning approach, and who strive to explore and develop new pedagogies.
