In its teaching, research, and scholarship, McMaster is committed to creativity, innovation, and excellence. It inspires critical thinking, personal growth, and a passion for learning. The University is deeply committed to serving the social, cultural, and economic needs of its community and society.

The AVP (Students and Learning) and Dean of Students reports to the Provost and Vice-President (Academic) and is responsible for all aspects of university life that directly impacts our undergraduate students, from the day they first consider McMaster as their university of choice until the day that they graduate. Ideal candidates will be proven leaders who are passionately committed to education and student development and who have demonstrated the ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, students and external communities within and beyond their organizations/institutions.

Specific responsibilities for the AVP include the Enrolment Services Office, University Registrar, Student Wellness Centre, Student Success Centre, Athletics and Recreation, Housing and Conference Services and International Student Services. This is a newly revised portfolio and the new AVP will have responsibility for remolding this unit to provide greater synergy and coherence. The portfolio includes responsibility for helping to integrate student success in the classroom with experiential learning outside the classroom. The AVP will inherit a strong team of dedicated, results-oriented staff who take great pride in the work they do to achieve student success at all levels.
