The Faculty of Education invites applications for a one-year full-time Limited Term Appointment at the rank of assistant professor. This appointment will commence on July 1, 2013 and end on June 30, 2014.
A completed doctorate in Education or a closely related field is required. Preference will be given to candidates with a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching, especially at the undergraduate level, a strong research record, and a commitment to engage in academic service. Candidates should have at least three years experience as an elementary and/or secondary school teacher. Applicants can learn more about the Faculty of Education at: http://www.wlu.ca/education.
The successful applicant will be expected to teach five half (0.50) courses. Courses to be taught may include undergraduate and graduate level courses. Successful candidates will be expected to teach in two of the following areas: equity and diversity in education, social studies/history/geography education, health and physical education, and learning and child development. The successful candidate must have an interest in and commitment to infuse Aboriginal content into all courses being taught.
The Laurier Teacher Education program is based on a Professional Development School model, providing faculty the opportunity for significant interactions within the schools. Full-time faculty members may engage in some practicum supervision and teaching in the schools.
