The Criminology Department at Kwantlen Polytechnic University invites applications for non-regular type 2 (temporary) faculty positions to provide coverage for one year beginning September 1, 2013. We seek faculty for both full-time and part-time positions with expertise and experience to teach in the following areas:
Competition Number 13-89:
We seek faculty with expertise and experience to teach Interpersonal and Professional Development in Criminology. It is anticipated that the applicant will be available to teach four sections of CRIM 1215 throughout the year.
Competition Number 13-90:
We seek faculty with expertise and experience to teach in the following areas:
Introduction to Criminology (CRIM 1100)
Introduction to the Criminal Justice System (CRIM 1101)
Sociological Explanations of Criminal Behavior (CRIM 2331)
Applicants should have a track-record of quality teaching. Candidates with a Ph.D., LL.M., and/or equivalent combination of graduate work, research, publications, and experience will be considered.
The Criminology Department at Kwantlen Polytechnic University currently offers a Bachelor of Arts, Major in Criminology degree as well as a second degree focusing on Social Justice. The department emphasizes pedagogical principles and educational approaches that incorporate community-based research, professional development, and experiential learning across the curriculum, including service learning and practicum elements, as well as a co-op placement option. The Criminology Department is also home to the Journal of Radical Criminology and to the Critical Criminology Working Group. Past and proposed future learning initiatives include an Inside-Out course set in the prison context, an International Field School initiative, and a Centre for Social Justice.

A complete application includes current curriculum vitae, a statement of teaching philosophy, evidence of undergraduate teaching success, copies of sample course syllabi/outlines, sample of research/publication, copies of transcripts of all degrees, and a list of three professional referees able to comment on your teaching ability and academic accomplishments. Short listed applicants will be required to provide copies of original transcripts. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
