The Department of Electrical, Computer and Software Engineering at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) invites applications for a Tier II Canada Research Chair (CRC) appointment. The Department is seeking an exceptional emerging researcher with potential to lead the field in Electric Energy Storage Systems. The Department is seeking an internationally recognized researcher with an outstanding record of research and publications in electric energy storage systems. The candidate should have demonstrated ability to lead in the emerging area of electric energy storage systems to address critical challenges in battery performance/design and energy storage systems for smart devices, transportation, and the electricity grid. In addition, the ideal candidate will have experience leading collaborative/interdisciplinary research teams, including successful collaboration with industry; attract and mentor graduate students; and secure external research funding.
The Department of Electrical, Computer and Software Engineering (ECSE) offers honours undergraduate degrees in Electrical Engineering, and Software Engineering. Also offered are degrees in Engineering and Management for each of these programs. The Department also offers Master's (MASc and MEng) and PhD programs in Electrical Engineering (with various specializations), and a graduate program (MEng) in Engineering Management. The candidate must hold a PhD in a relevant discipline and should demonstrate extensive research experience in electric energy storage systems. In addition, the candidate must be registered, or eligible for, and committed to, registration as a Professional Engineer (PEng) in the Province of Ontario. It is essential that the candidate demonstrates commitment to research excellence, have the ability to develop collaborative academic and industry research partnerships, the ability to conduct a dynamic and world-class research program and exhibit strong teaching and communication skills. Appointment to this tenure-track or tenured faculty position will be at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, commensurate with the qualifications of the successful applicant.
