Chair, Mechanical Engineering

The Lassonde School of Engineering is seeking an experienced candidate at the Full Professor rank, with tenure, to lead the Department of Mechanical Engineering as its Chair. This role is a unique opportunity to shape the future of a new department by implementing visionary educational and research initiatives. Applicants will have an established international research reputation and a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and innovative curriculum development. Working with a team, the successful candidate will be responsible for implementing our Renaissance Engineering TM programs and for providing the core academic leadership in the development of new collaborative partnerships with colleagues and institutions in academia, industry and internationally. She/he will also contribute to developing the strategic vision for the Department, planning, establishing state-of-the-art infrastructure, and leading faculty recruitment. Candidates from all areas of Mechanical Engineering are encouraged to apply.

The successful candidate must have a first degree (BASc, BEng or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering or related field. She/he should also be eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer with the Professional Engineers Ontario.
